Game Changers: Our Daughters' Outstanding Teachers

As we draw near to the end of year, I am reminded of the impact that teachers everywhere hold.  Being a homemaker is my platform to be my daughters' first teacher and I was apprehensive when my oldest one started preschool.  I was nervous because she had never left my side until that day and I did not know how we would handle the separation.  When my husband and I entered the classroom that day holding her little hands, we were greeted by three wonderful ladies who have since then been an extension of our family.  From that year on, God has blessed us every school year with outstanding teachers who have partnered with us to raise gifted and godly young girls.  I am truly thankful for those teachers.  Today I applaud loving and caring teachers everywhere who take our children's hands, open their minds, and touch their heart in ways that we parents may not credit enough.  To Miss Suzanne, Miss Jenny, Miss Lisa, Miss Pat, Miss Deidre, Miss Amy, Mrs Leslie, Mrs Evans, Mrs Val, Miss Sandy, Mrs D., Miss Musselman, Mr David, Senorita Sanchez, Mr. Bob, and all the other teachers and staff: I thank you from the bottom of my heart to have come alongside my husband and I and nurture with love and grace our girls and you deserve everything great that comes your way.  You will forever be in our hearts and to us you are true Game Changers and we salute all that you are!!!

Ernestine Shepherd: Determined, Dedicated and Disciplined

When I heard the life story of Ernestine Shepherd, the world's oldest competitive female bodybuilder, I was beyond inspired to shut down any excuses holding me back from living my best life.  She is definitely a Honeycomb Inspiration because her life speaks volume that age is nothing but a number.  She was determined to fight depression after she lost her sister and turned a devastating period into a winning lifestyle.  She then dedicated her latter years to not only stay fit but help others do the same.  She is so disciplined in her daily routine that I am motivated to do a little better today than I did yesterday. Tomorrow is not guaranteed so let's strive to be determined, dedicated, and disciplined and live our best life yet!!

Denzel Washington: 2015 Dillard Commencement Address

I listened to the commencement address and I take away lessons to last me for a lifetime.
1) Put God first
2) Fail big
3) You'll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse
4) Put your slippers way under the bed at night so that when you wake up in the morning, you have to get on your knees to reach them.  And while you are down there, say thank you in advance for what is already yours!
