Game Changers: Nick Vujicic

I listened to Nick Vujicic when he was a guest on the Trinity Broadcasting Network show "Praise The Lord" and I am delighted to feature him as today's Game Changers.  Nick Vujicic is a motivational speaker and evangelist born without limbs and he uses his life story to impact young and old around the world.  After years of seeking the meaning of his life without limbs, he found Christ along with his identity and purpose.  His perspective and love of life was forever transformed and at the age of seventeen he founded his non-profit organization Life Without Limbs and is now a proud husband and father.  Nick Vujicic's life story teaches me that all things are possible through Christ and with a thankful heart.

Les Brown - Easy is not an option

Easy comes, easy goes because when it's not hard earned, we do not appreciate what it takes to have it.  So let's take the road less traveled: the road of hard work, perseverance, and persistence.  We can only get what we put in and that's the way life goes.  Easy is not an option so next time we are faced with the choice, let's choose excellence and the outcome is bound to be excellent!!

Game Changers: Zig Ziglar

Zig Ziglar is undeniably a force to reckon with and it's an honor to count him as one of my mentors.  His life and message are epitomes of hope, inspiration, and faith.  Even though he left this earth, his legacy lives on as the great influence he is known for.  I learned life changing lessons listening to his podcast and reading his books. I have been inspired every time and I pray that this blog is one instrument to remind us through Zig Ziglar that we were born to win!!

Faith

Hebrews 11:1 tells us that now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  I love that verse because it speaks to the season I am in.  I used to have a vivid imagination when I was young but that dwindled over my adult years because life has put a demand on me to be more responsible and more practical.  However this year, I decided to make a radical change and gave myself permission to dream again and dream big.  Once I realized that I serve a big God whose greatest pleasure is to show up and show off, I started to live my life according to 2 Corinthians 5:7 - For we live by faith, not by sight.  I no longer determine what I can do by what my eyes can see rather I put all my faith in a God who showed me time and time again that He knows the plans He has for me, plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future.  He has a fantastic record of never failing me so I will follow what His formula calls me to do and that is to trust in Him with all my heart and not to lean on my own understanding because when I do, He will do me good all the days of my life!!

Eric Thomas: My WHY wakes me up!!

Do you have a WHY that wakes you up and keeps you going all through the day?  If not, know that your WHY stems from your passion which creates action that fuels motivation and motivation keeps you going in spite of any obstacle that comes your way.  Don't stop.  Don't give up.  Stay focused.  Give it your best shot.   Your time is now and you have what it takes to endure till the end.  This journey is not for the faint of heart and you have been selected to run this race because you are called for greatness.  Your preparation now meets the opportunity you have been waiting for and you are ready to make it count.  Today is the day and that's the reason your WHY woke you up!!

Game Changers: Our Daughters' Outstanding Teachers

As we draw near to the end of year, I am reminded of the impact that teachers everywhere hold.  Being a homemaker is my platform to be my daughters' first teacher and I was apprehensive when my oldest one started preschool.  I was nervous because she had never left my side until that day and I did not know how we would handle the separation.  When my husband and I entered the classroom that day holding her little hands, we were greeted by three wonderful ladies who have since then been an extension of our family.  From that year on, God has blessed us every school year with outstanding teachers who have partnered with us to raise gifted and godly young girls.  I am truly thankful for those teachers.  Today I applaud loving and caring teachers everywhere who take our children's hands, open their minds, and touch their heart in ways that we parents may not credit enough.  To Miss Suzanne, Miss Jenny, Miss Lisa, Miss Pat, Miss Deidre, Miss Amy, Mrs Leslie, Mrs Evans, Mrs Val, Miss Sandy, Mrs D., Miss Musselman, Mr David, Senorita Sanchez, Mr. Bob, and all the other teachers and staff: I thank you from the bottom of my heart to have come alongside my husband and I and nurture with love and grace our girls and you deserve everything great that comes your way.  You will forever be in our hearts and to us you are true Game Changers and we salute all that you are!!!

Ernestine Shepherd: Determined, Dedicated and Disciplined

When I heard the life story of Ernestine Shepherd, the world's oldest competitive female bodybuilder, I was beyond inspired to shut down any excuses holding me back from living my best life.  She is definitely a Honeycomb Inspiration because her life speaks volume that age is nothing but a number.  She was determined to fight depression after she lost her sister and turned a devastating period into a winning lifestyle.  She then dedicated her latter years to not only stay fit but help others do the same.  She is so disciplined in her daily routine that I am motivated to do a little better today than I did yesterday. Tomorrow is not guaranteed so let's strive to be determined, dedicated, and disciplined and live our best life yet!!

Denzel Washington: 2015 Dillard Commencement Address

I listened to the commencement address and I take away lessons to last me for a lifetime.
1) Put God first
2) Fail big
3) You'll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse
4) Put your slippers way under the bed at night so that when you wake up in the morning, you have to get on your knees to reach them.  And while you are down there, say thank you in advance for what is already yours!
